Medical Accounts Systems represents clients in every stage of the revenue cycle, and our fee arrangements can vary greatly depending on the services requested and the client's requirements.

Ordinarily, our fees are contingent upon recovery. In the event that we don't secure payment on behalf of the client, the client pays nothing for the services provided.

At the initial meeting with any prospective client, Medical Accounts Systems works with the client to conduct an analysis of sample accounts to determine the appropriate contingency rate. MAS will consider a number of different factors to determine an estimated cost to collect and a fee proposal will be based thereupon. Some of the factors may include:

  • Number of accounts referred
  • Average account balance
  • Payor mix (e.g. insurance, co-payments, deductibles, uninsured, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.)
  • Aging at time of referral (30 days, 90 days, 120 +, etc.)
  • Placement history
  • Average debtor demographic

The fees usually range from a low of 10% of sums recovered to a high of 50%. The following is a representative sampling of fee arrangements:

  • A South Florida acute care facility that refers in excess of $500,000 in primary placements with a varied payor mix and aging within the 120 day range - 12%
  • An ancillary healthcare provider serving the Florida Keys that is seeking to appeal underpayments by a large Managed Care Organization for out-of-network services - 18%
  • A hospital based, Central Florida physician practice that refers accounts for which all internal efforts have been exhausted and that are aged beyond one year from date of service - 45%
  • A multi-hospital centralized business office that refers approximately $1.5 Million monthly in accounts previously placed with an early-out vendor and a short term agency after 6 months from date of service and with a varied payor mix - 28%

Your specific fee arrangement will be determined based on the results of the analysis conducted by MAS prior to engagement.

The duties and responsibilities of MAS and its clients are set out in our standard collection services agreement. Click here for a sample agreement.

At the close of every month of collection activity, MAS will provide a net remittance report of all funds recovered on behalf of the client. In addition, MAS will deliver a net remittance check which represents the proceeds of all recoveries for the prior month.
