Medical Accounts Systems is wholly owned and operated by Florida attorneys with over 20 years of experience in healthcare reimbursement, managed care, commercial litigation and debt collection. Their law firm, Jorge M. Abril, P.A., provides counsel in Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act compliance; creditor's rights in bankruptcy; and all other areas of law related to debt collection.

Jorge M. Abril has been involved in the debt collection industry at every level. He spent over ten years as a collector and collection manager, where he acquired extensive experience in the business of debt recovery. In 1988 he purchased Shafer & Simon, Inc., his first employer in the collection industry, and aside from maintaining an active law practice, he takes an active role in the management of Medical Accounts Systems. Jorge is a frequent lecturer on healthcare reimbursement issues as well as general collection and collection-related topics. At Medical Accounts Systems, Jorge is involved in issues ranging from employment and employee training, including compliance, to marketing and client development.

Craig R. Lewis joined Jorge M. Abril, P.A., in 2006 as a law clerk. Upon graduating law school and passing the Florida Bar, Craig became an Associate with the firm practicing in the areas of managed care, construction litigation, commercial collections and related litigation. His focus at Medical Accounts Systems involves the technical aspects of the debt collection business, including emerging technologies, system integration, automation and security.
